Young radio amateurs from Užice brought more medals

XV Meeting of Amatur Radio Union of Vojvodina took place in Bački Monoštor at October 8th, 2017. During this event radio-gonimoety and high speed telegraphy contest were organized. out young operators Janko Mihailović YU3EEA and Kristina Janković YU3EYL took place and achieved very good results.

Janko Mihailović YU3EEA, won the first place in high speed telegraphy and fourth place in radio-goniometry.

Kristina Janković YU3EYL, participated only in high speed telegraphy contest and won the second place.

Amateur radio award “Užice 2017”

Užice Award

Amateur radio operators from Užice established  “Užice Award” to celebrate Day of Užice city. Award is organized by Radio club „Aco Vučković“ YU1ABH, Radio club „Sevojno“ YU1AAX and RAdio club „Užice“ YU1ACE.

Award activities are occurring each year between 1st and 16th October. All amateur radio operators who live at the territory of Užice are participating but also other operators that are visiting and operate form Užice area.

This year it is expected about 20 stations to be active working for this award. Award may be won by amateur radio operators from whole World. They are required to make some number of contacts (depending of location) with stations from Užice.

Award attracted significant interest especially from operators stationed in neighboring countries and European countries, but also operators from other continents.

Young amateur radio operators are also participating. Although they do not have their own equipment they use equipment in radio clubs but also equipment of elder operators.

Young radio amateurs brought eight medals to Užice

In Grza near Paraćin (Serbia) from July 14th to 19th Young amateur radio camp is held. It was organized by Amateur radio Union of Serbia and Radio club “Kosmos” YU1GUV from Paraćin.

Five young operators from Užice participated in camp: Janko Mihailović YU3EEA, Kristina Janković YU3EYL, Andrija Petrić YU4EEW, Petar Despotović YU4FPS and Lazar Mihailović YU4TDX. Bogdan Stepanov YU5BOX, young operator from Zrenjanin also joined the team. Team went to camp leaded by senior operators Milan Milovanović YU1ZZ and Predrag Supurović YT9TP.

Camp gathered about 30 young operators from all over the Serbia. Activities were training in amateur radio goniometry, antenna building, introduction of Red Cross organization, training in first aid application and other.

Free time was used for mingling, visiting Grza park and also makng QSO zsing cap station.

During the camp, two contests were herd, one in amateur radio goniometry and other in high speed telegraphy.

Young operators from Užice, who were first time participating in such meeting, participated in contest and surprised everyone by wining in total eight medals: two gold, one silver and five bronze.

Janko Mihailović YU3EEA won the first place in high speed telegraphy, and the third place in radio-goniometry.

Andrija Petrić YU4EEW won the first place in radio-goniometry.

Lazar Mihailović YU4TDX won the third place in high speed telegraphy and the second place in radio-goniometry.

Kristina Janković YU3EYL won the third place in high speed telegraphy and the third place in radio-goniometry.

Petar Despotović YU4FPS wont the third place in radio-goniometry.

Bogdan Stepanov also showed good result winning the fourth place in radio-goniometry.

Outside of contensting, yonugsters from Užice also show knowledge and abilities in other activities, representing city of Užice at best.

Besides medals, team brought back something very valuable: new freindships.

The new generation of radio amateurs

Winter is time when radio-club orgabuzez courses and preparations for new amateur radio operators. Exams were held today, and besides people from Užice, candidates also came from Čačak and Prijepolje.

Small space in radio-club did not allow all to take exams at once, so we had to organize candidates in two shifts. Seven candidates passed exams.

Yugoslav national amateur radio magazine “Radioamater” in 1947, September issue number 9 published article about foundation of amateur radio society “Aco Vučković” in Titobo Užice (nowadays Užice).

Article reveals information that this society is founded in June 1947, but that activitieas ar held even in previous year through courses for phone and telegraphy oeprators and also some construction activities building radio equipment.
